I've read both of these novels and I haven't really noticed their similarities until I read your article. Shame on me because The Idiot is literally one of my favorites of all time and Natasya Filippovna, I regard as the most impactful character in the novel. I plan to write something about her in the near future too!
I agree, she is the most impactful character in the story, and also an extremely interesting and complex character, she has become one of my favourite fictional characters.
Also, tbh the similarities do feel a little stretched to me, it was a fun idea that occurred to me randomly and then I think I just convinced myself that it actually made a lot of sense 😂
