It still sounds like you read some great books over this year! I am reading A Christmas Carol with my family over Christmas time and I am really enjoying it. I haven't read any books by Charles Dickens yet, so it is been interesting to try one of his works! 😊
I do enjoy creating a list every quarter with the books I either have lying around or that I really want to read. I find this inspires me to look at them and read them! I do enjoy keeping track of the date I started a book and the date I finished it too 😂 It helps me stay on track!
Oh Christmas Carol was my first Dickens as well!!! I believe it is a great book to start with.
And while I don't think listing books I want to read is going to work for me, I love noting the date I start and finish a book and for books I love (like Wuthering Heights) I celebrate the anniversaries 🤣
Yes, I'm just way too moody to actually follow a list because the me who will make the list and the me who will actually be reading will be two very different people 😂
I wish you read more if your whole theme of Substack has a title Joyie Talks Books. But everybody, I think, will value your openness about your attempts at reading.
Haha yes I try, it's just that there are also other things I have to do 😅 but my problem isn't that I struggle to read, I struggle to read within the boundaries of pre-determined parameters, I enjoy reading more freely.
Since I buy a lot of books during the year, I think my goal is to read as many as I can so they don’t bury me alive if I have a bookalanche
Lmao I just imagined myself getting cremated by all the books I own 😭
You read a handful of fat classics this year. Well done!
No but none of them were like War and Peace or Count Of Monte Cristo type fat, so I felt a bit down 😂

I write yearly reading goals but they’re more of a guideline rather than a rule. I love it when an unplanned book surprises me.
