I love the sentence that you don’t read for intellectualism. People get this confused. I don’t read for intellectualism but more for coping with my neurological disorders. I always loved reading so much and I have got more into reading intellectual (literature) because I had another stroke and I don’t want to loose something so important and precious as the ability to read. (I’m dyslexic) so it’s a real pressure to remain reading books. Before my strokes I took reading for granted even though it was always precious to me, I took it for granted that I would always be able to read 😂🤪 but now I know you have to read more and often.
Oh, that's another point of view that I personally haven't experienced. It's nice that you're now cherishing reading more. I also read books that can sometimes be interpreted as intellectual, but that definitely doesn't come from a thirst for knowledge or something like that, generally I read those books because they address the kind of stuff I personally struggle with.
Both of these apply to me as well. I love the experience of getting lost in different worlds and language in general is one of my favourite things in the world 😌

This was amazing to read. Looking further to reading more of your work!
Thank you for your kind words 🙏
I primarily read for 2 reasons:
1. to get lost in other worlds, and experience things I never could in my own life
2. for the language, sometimes so beautiful that it just fills me with awe and inspiration
Both of these apply to me as well. I love the experience of getting lost in different worlds and language in general is one of my favourite things in the world 😌
I’m also beginning to question my relationship with reading recently… and having loads of mixed feelings *sighs*
It's a bit complicated, isn't it? But at the end of the day, if we enjoy reading, that's all that matters
